On October 1st we reunited with Carrie and John for their big day. It was great to share another day with such a happy couple since shooting their engagement photos this summer. Carrie and the girls got ready at the stylish, Hollywood-themed Hotel Deluxe. The ceremony was at the classic Arista Ballroom in SE Portland. Carrie and John were clearly meant for each other, their love reflected in the faces of their children and friends. It was a wonderful day, and we feel honored to have been a part of their wedding!

Shot while second shooting for Ben Pigao. Once again we were back at the Waverly Country Club, but this was the first time I had shot the ceremony with the river in the background and the reception outdoors. It was perfect. This was an absolutely gorgeous wedding with amazing flowers by Crystal Lilies.

These were shot while second shooting for Ben Pigao. This wedding was a great change of pace from what I’ve been shooting as of late. I spent the afternoon with the guys getting ready at James’ house and then continued to the ceremony and reception at the Blue Heron Herbary at Sauvie’s Island. I loved how laid back the vibe was throughout the day (even when running late in traffic on the way to the ceremony). The backyard wedding really created a great atmosphere for having a fun time.

On Sunday evening we met with Carrie and John on the Portland waterfront for their engagement session. Portland area natives, Carrie and John met at work and share a love for the city, Oregon Ducks football and, of course, each other. I don’t know if it was love at first sight, but one look at these two together and you just know they were meant for each other. It was really fun working with such an energetic couple, who were as excited about the photos as we were. I guess that should come as no surprise as Carrie, herself, is a photographer. They weren’t afraid to loosen up, have some fun, and even get soaking wet… twice. I’ve never said being a photographer isn’t hard work, but it’s worth pointing out that being a subject also isn’t easy, so a big round of applause for Carrie and John who soldiered on in high spirits. We are really looking forward to working with them again on their wedding day!

Megan & Jeff | Ecotrust Rooftop | Portland Wedding Photography

I’ve never laughed or sweat as much at a wedding as I did at Megan and Jeff’s wedding atop the roof of the Eco-Trust Building in the Pearl District. I shot alongside Ben Pigao and was tasked with capturing the guys getting ready while Ben was shooting the girls. The stories told by the groomsmen are those I dare not repeat, but you can be sure those guys know how to party (and maybe even get into a little bit of trouble). Despite the sun beating down on us for most of the day, the energy level remained high and everyone was all smiles. When you can tell the bride and groom are really having a good time, its contagious. I had a great time.

Denise & Mark | Seattle Wedding Photography

Last Saturday we drove up to Seattle to shoot Denise and Mark’s lovely wedding at the Cedar Brook Lodge. You may think it’s the middle of July, but apparently the Pacific Northwest officially stopped recognizing summer as we were greeted with rain upon our arrival. While the ceremony itself was indoors, we had wanted to make use of the beautiful landscaping around the Lodge to capture the formals. Fortunately, the clouds parted just in time and we were able to get outside and get the shots we needed.

This wedding also represented our first attempt at successfully providing a photo booth for the reception. With the help of Daniel Sloan, who assisted us with both video and stills and practically ran the photo booth himself, we can definitely say that this new product offering is here to stay. It was the life of the party, with children, parents, and grandparents alike all coming forward to dress up and have some fun. I’ve never hesitated to say that photography should be fun, and the photo booth really drives this point home.

Cassie & Tyler | Abernethy Center | Oregon City Wedding Photography

Cassie and Tyler brought us to the beautiful Abigail’s Garden at the Abernethy Center in Oregon City for their wedding. Tall trees, blooming flowers, green fields, and a bubbling stream made for a pristine location that was secluded yet open. An overcast sky provided nice even light throughout the outdoor ceremony (and only once or twice did we feel rain drops). It was our first wedding this season under the 4sight banner, but we quickly dropped right back into our groove. I can honestly say this is some of our best work yet, and we had a blast getting it. A huge congratulations to Cassie and Tyler. This season is off to a great start, and we can’t wait for our next wedding!
