How long have you been photographing weddings?
We have been shooting weddings together since 2009. Before that we each had previous wedding experience shooting with other photographers.

Do we get a disc of high-resolution files?
All of our current packages include a DVD of high-resolution images. There is no proofing stage, which saves you from the hassle of having to pick and choose and it allows us to deliver the images more quickly. All images that meet our standards are fully processed and will be delivered to you. We include a printing release, which allows you to make unlimited prints at a location of your choosing. We can also provide professional quality prints upon request.

How many photos should I expect to receive?
This depends on a variety of factors, such as length of the wedding, number of guests, various events that take place, and more. Our clients usually receive between 500-800 images.

Do you give us every photo you take?
Although we understand the desire to see every shot taken, with 2 photographers shooting for a full day we capture a lot of images. Some of which are duplicate shots to avoid blinking or unflattering expressions. After we sort out the not-so-great shots, we will provide you with the rest.

Can we give you a list of photos we want to have taken?
Absolutely, in fact we encourage it. Of course we are going to photograph the events throughout the day as they take place and get you all of the great shots you’d expect, but if there is something unusual or specific that you’d like us to photograph feel free to let us know. This is your wedding day and we want to make sure we capture the things that are important to you.

Do you edit your photos?
Yes, every image you will receive will be individually edited (photoshopped) to look its best. We can provide advanced photo retouching and editing upon request.

How long after the wedding will we receive our photos?
We work hard to deliver your photos as quickly after the wedding as possible. You can usually expect your disc and photobook within 4-8 weeks.
Do you back up your photos?
Absolutely. After the wedding the photos are copied from our memory cards to our hard drive. Then they are duplicated to a 2nd and then 3rd external hard drive. Once the images have gone through our editing process, they are copied again in the same fashion. We duplicate the disc we deliver to you and store it in a safe and separate location.

What kind of equipment do you use?
We use professional Nikon camera bodies and lenses.

Do you travel outside of the Portland?
Yes. We love to travel and have shot weddings all over Oregon as well as Washington and Northern California. We are available to shoot just about anywhere.
How much do you charge for travel?
We do not charge for travel within the Portland metro area. If we have to travel more than 100 miles, we charge a small fee per mile. If we have to fly or stay overnight we will also charge for those expenses.

What is the purpose of the retainer?
Along with the contract, the retainer secures your date and compensates for the fact that we will not accept business from other clients on that day.
What will you wear at our wedding?
Our normal wedding attire is dress shirts, dress pants, and dress shoes. We avoid blazers and ties as they restrict our ability to move like ninjas throughout the venue, but we can conform to meet the dress code of your event.

What are your prices and packages?

Why should we do an engagement session?
The obvious benefits of having an engagement shoot is to get beautiful photos of the two of you to share with friends and family, and to use for save-the-date cards, wedding invitations, guestbook, etc.
The not-so-obvious benefit is that it gives us the opportunity to get to know each other better and work together before your wedding day. You will have the opportunity to warm up to being in front of the camera and we will learn how comfortable you are being in front of the camera and which angles and types of poses look best for you. Gaining this familiarity with each other will help alleviate some of the stress from your wedding and result in better photos.
Daven wrote about his own experience with having engagement photos here.
Do you bring assistants or 2nd shooters with you to weddings?
Due to the fact that we are a team of two photographers, we do not have a need to bring anyone additional to your wedding. If there are special circumstances where an additional assistant is needed this would be discussed in advance.

What is a “first look” or “first glance”?
This is an opportunity to create a special moment for the two of you to see each other in your wedding outfits for the first time. This will take place before the ceremony in an intimate location. The benefit of doing this is that it allows for us to take the some of the wedding party and family formals before the ceremony.

How do we book you for our date?
Once you’ve decided to hire us as your wedding photographers there are two things you must do in order to secure your date: sign the contract and deliver your retainer payment. Once we’ve received both we will secure your date and begin preparations for your wedding.
